A Creative Approach to Development

MEDA Trust connects people in North America with the working poor around the world through microfinance. Through the creative use of technology, MEDA Trust allows people to donate funds to the working poor directly. Through MEDA Trust you choose a loan you wish to support and then designate funds in your portfolio for that specific loan.

You are able to fund loans as an individual, as a group or as an organization. Each loan acts as a revolving loan and has potential to impact many entrepreneurs. When money is paid back to the bank by the client, the donor is updated and the money is put back into their account. These funds are now ready to be used to fund another loan.

Building Dignity

In order to create sustainable solutions, communities require strong institutions. MEDA Trust partners together with carefully chosen microfinance institutions to help create a strong economy for the community that will have lasting long-term effects.

Work has value. There is dignity and joy that comes from earning a living. MEDA Trust allows people to contribute and be engaged in development where funds are not simply handed out but given in the form of a loan. The result for the working poor is a brighter future with the confidence that comes from a strong livelihood.

MEDA Trust seeks to enrich microfinance best practices and make a lasting contribution to entrepreneurs struggling with poverty. Microfinance is a developed and recognized industry with standards of efficiency, timeliness and treatment of clients. MEDA Trust believes these standards contribute to better services and solutions to poverty around the world. We strive toward integrity in all areas of our work and hold the clients we work with high respect.

Clients on the MEDA Trust site are real. They have real businesses and real loan applications. While MEDA Trust would love to be able to make available the names of clients and more details about their situations, we have chosen to keep names private. Client confidentiality is extremely important to us even if it means less information for those in the MEDA Trust community.

Maximizing Influence

We believe women and men receiving loans should not have to shoulder any additional costs due to marketing or North American administration. We are committed to not adding any costs to international microfinance institutions to cover marketing. All marketing costs are paid by MEDA and are separate from the local institutions.
